Privacy Policy — Mentioned
Last updated: 14 June 2026
Mentioned helps Shopify merchants make their product catalog readable and recommendable by AI shopping assistants. This policy explains exactly what the app accesses, what it stores, and how to delete it.
Our privacy promises
- We never access your customers, orders or personal data — the app requests product permissions only (
read_products,write_products). - We never sell or share your data.
- Nothing is changed in your store without your explicit approval.
- You can delete everything we've stored at any time from the app's Settings page, and uninstalling erases all your data within 48 hours.
What data the app accesses
Mentioned reads product catalog data from your Shopify store via the Admin API (read_products): product titles, descriptions, types, vendors, tags, variants, prices, images/alt text, metafields and SEO fields. It writes back only the catalog fixes you explicitly approve (write_products).
The app does not request, access or store any customer personal data. It holds no customer names, emails, addresses or order PII.
What we store
On our own server (per shop) we store:
- Catalog readiness scores and detected issues.
- AI-generated fix suggestions and their approval status.
- AI-visibility probe results (the prompts tested and whether your store was mentioned).
- Your app settings (niche, brand name, probe prompts).
We store no customer personal data, so there is nothing to return for a customers/data_request and nothing to erase for a customers/redact.
Third-party processing
If you enable AI features, the prompts and product text needed to generate fixes or run visibility probes are sent to the AI provider you configure (Anthropic or OpenAI) for processing. No customer personal data is included.
Data deletion
You can delete all stored data at any time from the app's Settings → Privacy & data page. When you uninstall the app, the shop/redact webhook (48h after uninstall) deletes all data we hold for your shop automatically.
